Become a Leeds Library Member by choosing one of the options below. If you are unsure of which option to choose you can read more about the various options here. You can also purchase a membership as a gift for your friends and family members. Simply select Gift when making your selection. For details please refer to our Gift Membership Page

Individual

Select this option

This is a Gift

£15 per month / £45 per quarter / £180 per year

Open to individuals aged 26 or over.

You can borrow up to 30 items at any one time made up of the following: up to 10 in demand books, 10 not in demand books, 10 periodicals and 10 audio visual items at any one time. You can borrow most of our books published less than 100 years ago and there’s also a wealth of interesting resources to delve into. For a full list of benefits please see here.

When you first visit the Library you will be required to bring two forms of ID such as a recent utility bill and a driving licence.

Please note that membership runs from the first day of the month.

Household

£22.5 per month / £67.5 per quarter / £270 per year

A household is any number of adults and children under 18 living at the same address.

Each adult can borrow 20 items each at any one time made up of the following: up to 10 in demand books, 10 not in demand books, 10 periodicals and 10 audio visual items at any one time. You can borrow most of our books published less than 100 years ago and there’s also a wealth of interesting resources to delve into.

Each child can borrow 5 items each at any one time made up of the following: up to 5 in demand books, 5 not in demand books, 2 periodicals and 2 audio visual items at any one time. For a full list of benefits please see here.

Concessionary

£7.25 per month / £21.75 per quarter / £87 per year

Concessionary is for full-time students over the age of 18, young people between the ages of 16 and 25, and individuals aged 26 and over in receipt of Universal Credit or Pension Credit.

You can borrow up to 15 items at any one time made up of the following: up to 10 in demand books, 10 not in demand books, 10 periodicals and 10 audio visual items at any one time. You can borrow most of our books published less than 100 years ago and there’s also a wealth of interesting resources to delve into. For a full list of benefits please see here.

When you first visit the Library you will be required to bring two forms of ID such as a recent utility bill and a driving licence. If you are an adult in full-time education we will ask for written proof.

Access

£10 per month / £30 per quarter / £120 per year

Open to individuals aged 26 or over.

You will have full access to the Library building but no borrowing rights or use of digital services. For a full list of benefits for all categories see here.

Taster Membership

Try us for a month with a taster membership. Valid for one calendar month from activation.

Taster memberships include:

An introductory tour on your first visit
Access to our beautiful Grade II* listed building and its collections.
Browse our extensive range of magazines and daily newspapers
Space to work, study, read, or just sit and relax!
Complimentary hot drink voucher to use in members’ Coffee Corner.
Free Wi-Fi

Plus, if you decide to join for the full year at the end of your taster, we will deduct the £13 from your annual subscription fee.

Available to those aged 16 and over. New members only. One membership per person.

Taster membership of The Leeds Library can be purchased on any day within a calendar month and must be activated before the last day of the same calendar month.

It will be valid for 28 days from activation.
